By Air
Nearest Airport: Kozani National Airport (KZI)
Distance: ~55 km | Driving time: ~50 minutes
Kozani National Airport (Filippos) is the closest airport to Livadi. It serves domestic flights from Athens (Aegean Airlines and Sky Express operate seasonal routes). From the airport, you can rent a car or arrange a private transfer to the guesthouse.
Thessaloniki Airport (SKG)
Distance: ~160 km | Driving time: ~2 hours
For international travellers, Thessaloniki International Airport "Makedonia" is the best option. It is well-connected with direct flights from most European capitals. Car hire is available at the airport, and the drive to Livadi follows the A1 motorway south.
Athens Airport (ATH)
Distance: ~410 km | Driving time: ~4 hours 45 minutes
Athens International Airport "Eleftherios Venizelos" offers the widest range of international connections. While the drive is longer, the A1 motorway is fast and well-maintained. Domestic flights to Kozani or Thessaloniki can shorten the journey considerably.

We can arrange a private airport transfer for your convenience. Please contact us at least 48 hours before arrival to organise your pick-up.

While a car is recommended for flexibility, it is possible to reach the Olympus area by public transport via the KTEL intercity bus network.

KTEL buses run regularly from Thessaloniki's main bus station (KTEL Makedonia) to Litochoro and Elassona. From either town, a local taxi or pre-arranged transfer can bring you to Livadi (~30–40 minutes).
From Larissa
KTEL Larissa operates services to Elassona, from where onward transport to Livadi can be arranged. Buses depart several times daily.
From Athens
KTEL buses connect Athens (Liosion bus station) with Larissa and Thessaloniki. From there, continue with the regional services described above. The full journey takes approximately 6–7 hours.
Tip: We recommend checking schedules in advance at ktel.com. Service frequency may be reduced on weekends and during off-season months.
Travel Tips
A few practical notes to make your journey smooth and enjoyable.
Car Rental
We strongly recommend renting a car for your stay. Having your own vehicle allows you to explore Mount Olympus, visit neighbouring villages, and reach trailheads at your own pace. Car rental is available at all major airports and in Thessaloniki and Larissa city centres.
A standard vehicle is sufficient for all roads to Livadi. The roads are paved and in good condition year-round, though winter tyres or chains may be required during heavy snowfall (December–February).
Road Conditions
The final stretch of road to Livadi is a scenic mountain route with some winding sections. It is well-maintained but narrower than main highways. Drive with care, especially in winter or after heavy rain. Speed limits are clearly posted.
Parking
Free private parking is available at Lanari Traditional Guesthouse for all guests. There is no need to reserve a space — simply park in our designated area when you arrive.
